The game starts paused. You can read the controls and then unpause by cicking P or X or Esc

It’s a lazy Sunday night in the year 2000. You just want to play some Snake, but then you receive a concerning text from a friend...

This game was created in three days for the Godot Wild Jam #95.

Gameplay

The gameplay is directly inspired by the indie horror game Do You Copy?. You receive text messages from your friend, who is lost in the woods. Guide them safely to the parking lot using a drawable map. But be careful not to fall for the tricks of a spooky entity.

Known Issues

  • Web Version: Pressing Esc while in fullscreen mode will cause the window to minimize. Since Esc is also used to toggle the pause menu and return from map mode, you can use P or X instead.
  • The blinking "New Message" icon is inconsistent.
  • Has problems running in Firefox. Try Chrome

Spoilers

Note: There are three endings (two bad and one good). Do not read further if you want to figure them out yourself!

Bad Ending 1:

  • If you ignore the first three text messages and instead play Snake or look around the room, the witch finds your friend.
  • Hint: The witch ends her messages with "xoxo," and the name "Emily" in her texts is spelled with an uppercase "I" instead of an "l".
  • If you give the witch directions to the house and do not immediately pivot south, she finds your friend.

Bad Ending 2:

  • When you first receive a text from the witch, she is near your friend. If you lead them straight to the parking lot, the witch follows in the car and gets you as well.

Good Ending:

  • At the rock formation that looks like a nose, you can pick any direction.
  • You must dodge the witch's tricks.
  • Pay close attention to the map to determine which trail fork your friend might be at.
  • Always take the detour through the swamp, then head to the parking lot.

Credits

All 3D models of the room in the background are my own. I modeled them a while ago but arranged and textured them specifically for this jam. I created the Nokia model exclusively for this project, and I personally recorded the vibration sound and background street ambiance.

Very good work with the graphics direction. However controls still feel very inconsistent on the web version at least.

I can't get the game to start. The web version doesn't get past the controls screen. It looks like you forgot to embed the pck on the exe.

Have you tried unpausing by clicking Esc or P or X? When you see the controls it shoudl work. Also it should work in the browser

x and p both worked! Esc didn't. Sorry I didn't read the description. lol. Emily is lucky I messed up in snake. Drawing on the map was fun.
